A sensitive architectural approach has made Jaffna Heritage Hotel a stand out among the new breed of Jaffna Hotels. While it’s an entirely new building, local architectural features have been used throughout, so it sits well with the Jaffna aesthetic. The locally-based owner has hired local staff, giving friendly and eager service to guests.
There is a small pool in the grounds for guests to cool off and the veranda runs the length of the hotel and is an excellent spot for relaxing in the early evening.
The ten rooms are all the same category, though sensitive sleepers may want to request a room away from the main road as it does get noisy in the early morning. There is one twin room, and the rest are doubles – though an extra bed or even two can be added for families.
The vegetarian restaurant offers tasty local dishes, and the breakfast is a superb local spread, with toast and fruit for those who prefer a western breakfast. It should be noted that, due to the hotel’s proximate to Jaffna’s most revered Hindu temple Nallur, alcohol is not served in the hotel.
Aside from being located close to Nallur Temple Jaffna Heritage Hotel is reasonably central to most of Jaffna’s sites.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
- Swimming Pool
- Television in the rooms
