Jetwing Jaffna ,
Sri Lanka, Jaffna Peninsula
Info : Jetwing Jaffna
Located in the heart of Jaffna, Jetwing Jaffna hotel is a short walk away from the major sights of the city. With modern and tastefully decorated rooms, it makes for a very comfortable stay.
Jetwing Jaffa is set close to the Jaffna railway station and northern coastline of Sri Lanka. It boasts a very convenient location; within walking distance to major historic sites including the Jaffna public library built in 1933, the Jaffna Fort constructed by Portuguese settlers in the 1600s and the beautiful Jaffna Clock Tower built to commemorate King Edward VII visit to the city in 1875. It’s also close to a large supermarket and various banks making its positioning even more convenient.
Rooms are well appointed and some feature balconies which provide a brilliant view of the city’s skyline. Staff are eager to please and attentive. The restaurant offers particularly good seafood, with a scrumptious selection of prawn, crab and cuttle dishes cooked to perfection – all typical of Northern Sri Lankan cuisine. It also serves various Sri Lankan curries and western dishes so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
It must be noted that there is no onsite bar, although you can buy your own drinks from the local supermarket and have them inside. There is also no room service available but the staff are keen to help at reception with requests. There can also sometimes be some noise on the north side from a nearby cinema, so if you’re a light sleeper it might be better to request a south facing room. Finally, Jetwing Jaffna is of a rather modern design and is not the most beautiful you’ll stay in whilst visiting Sri Lanka, we believe though that the location more than makes up for this.
All in all this is a very comfortable place to stay whilst visiting northern Sri Lanka, with a great location and lovely staff.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
This was an excellently organised, tailor-made trip. We stayed in friendly hotels in a number of different locations, including a mud house in the jungle, beside a lake and in the hills among the tea plantations. We had a wonderful guide/driver and visited some amazing temples, spectacular world heritage sites, lovely villages and ate delicious, freshly harvested and cooked local food. It was a fabulous holiday!
