Mountbatten Bungalow ,
Sri Lanka, Kandy and Around
Info : Mountbatten Bungalow
The first thing you’ll notice upon arrival at Mountbatten Bungalow is the abundance of space. The grounds are sprawling and the rooms seem enormous. This old tea planter’s bungalow sits sits on the fringe of a still-functioning tea estate with lovely mountain views. Located about half an hour away from Kandy town, Mountbatten is a peaceful getaway.
Most people come to this region to experience the natural environment and to get a taste of Sri Lankan city sights on a smaller and more comfortable scale than Colombo. Mountbatten Bungalow sits in the hills just south of Kandy, making it a convenient base for exploration of both the city and its lovely surroundings. From here, you can visit the lake, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Botanical Gardens and tea factories. At the property, the guest facilities are grand, including a Victorian style dining hall and an infinity pool and spa.
You won’t have to worry about being crowded in – even the bathrooms are larger than life. The bungalow itself is made up of four large rooms and two suites. There are also timber chalets in the garden at one end of the property, all of which have balconies that overlook the spectacular mountain range.
The bungalow’s great location makes it a lovely choice for honeymoons or special occasions. Be advised that it’s not a five-star enterprise, so stay elsewhere if you prefer your creature comforts to meet international luxury standards. The winding mountain road leading up to Mountbatten Bungalow is hair-raising, so hold on to your hats. If that doesn’t phase you, book here for a warm welcome and some well-deserved R&R time in the hills surrounding Kandy.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
The boutique hotels were beautiful and personal. The tea trails a were fantastic.Khanda kanda was so stylish and the best food we had.We loved Park Street in Colombo,a real oasis.
