Info : Palpatha Lodge
Palpatha is a simple, rustic lodge close to the entrance of Wilpattu National Park.
Consisting of four guest areas, accommodation is separated into two simple 'chalets' and semi-permanent tents. The two chaets have thatched roofs, basic, permanent beds, and simple en-suite bathrooms. The tents are largely open with an additional thatch roof for extra cover and have camp beds inside. All guest areas are essentially very basic but fit for purpose.
A central hut provides for a dining and relaxation area. Meals are traditional Sri Lankan food, cooked village style with clay pots and firewood. Solar powered lighting is used extensively thorughout the property.
Palpatha is just a 15 minute drive from the main entrance to the park, making it an ideal base for full, half or two-day safari excursions. The park is one of Sri Lanka’s finest, with a spectacular array of flora and fauna to be experienced.
The property borders the Kala Oya river and there are lots of birds to be seen inside Palpatha’s grounds. Short walks and river dips are also possible.
Palpatha is a good option for those wanting to stay close to Wilpattu. With safari style accommodation and essential facilties to come back to after a day exploring the park by jeep, Palpatha will suit the more adventurous traveller.
