Sri Lanka, Hill Country
Info : St Andrew's
There is an intimate feel to this St Andrew's Hotel Sri Lanka, housed in a building more than 100 years old and with many of the original features left in place. There are 52 rooms of varying size and quality. We recommend the deluxe rooms, but the standard rooms are comfortable and the suites large and well equipped.
St Andrew's Hotel Sri Lanka has a lovely cosy feel to it. The service is very attentive and the overall facilities good. Dark woods and antiques, such as the magnificent snooker table, make for a memorable stay with a luxurious feel.
Supper is served in a fairly formal setting and the emphasis is very much on traditional quality the set menu is chosen with care as to ingredients and quality. The open show kitchen is a flamboyant modern touch which works really well in the otherwise traditional dining setting of this former Scottish gentlemans club.
All the activities available from Nuwara Eliya are on hand, such as hiking, horse-riding, Hakgala Botanical Gardens and Horton Plains National Park. St Andrew's Hotel Sri Lanka also offers a resident naturalist who can lead you on various nature trails around Nuwara Eliya.

Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
All the hotels were excellent - lovely rooms, really friendly staff and some great Sri Lankan food, especially at Ulagalla, Kandy House and Tea Trails.
