Located at the southern entrance to the Wilpattu National
Park, Taru Villu provides an ideal base from which to explore the park's
wildlife and relax and unwind after a long day of safari.
Wilpattu is Sri Lanka's largest national park, spanning over
1300 square km. It is home to a huge variety of bird and animal species,
including elephants, sloth bears, and a high concentration of the elusive Sri
Lankan leopard. Taru Villu is located at the southern end of the park in the
Eluwankulama area, which is currently the lesser-used entrance to the park. The
resort's onsite naturalists are experts in wildlife and Wilpattu Park
specifically, making safari tours exciting and informative, with an 80% chance
of leopard sightings if doing a full-day safari.
The resort consists of just seven villas, each a suitable distance apart to ensure a private and quiet stay. The five Premier Chalets are incredibly spacious and have everything you need to relax and refresh after a day in the park, including private plunge pools. Given the low number of rooms, the larger resort swimming pool and restaurant will never feel busy, and a stay here feels intimate and personal.
For wildlife lovers seeking a touch of luxury away from the
crowds, Taru Villu is an excellent choice as part of a Sri Lankan adventure.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
