With the golden sands of Kabalana beach on its doorstep, this stylish and modern property on the southern coast radiates a sophisticated, intimate and calm atmosphere.
The Sandhya’s double height lobby welcomes guests with sweeping ocean views and sleek interiors, with much of the furniture being hand-made in Sri Lanka. The 15 metre plunge pool sits on the front garden facing out to the ocean with lounges and relaxation spaces throughout the property. A farm-to-table dining style has been implemented at the Sandhya, with fresh and seasonal food used by the chef.
Staff are personable and attentive, while still giving space and privacy to guests. As Kabalana Beach is a well-known surfing spot, guests can sign up for a surfing lesson, or for those who want to admire from afar, sunrise yoga sessions are on offer as well. For those who want to explore Galle Fort, the popular site is just 25 minutes away and makes for a great day trip, while tea and cinnamon plantations are also nearby.
The 9 individually designed, contemporary rooms include ocean views, with floor to ceiling glass allowing you to admire the ocean from the comfort of your bed. The stylish and simple colour palette, teak furnishings and modern decor blend well with the surrounding area and style of the property. Bathrooms are spacious and luxurious, while some include large bathtubs. Guests are more than welcome to dine on their balcony or patio to enjoy the rolling waves, ocean breeze and sunset.
The Sandhya welcomes adults only and is therefore not suited to young families.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
