Wilpattu Safari Camp,
Sri Lanka, Puttalam & The North West
Info : Wilpattu Safari Camp
A small but spacious boutique camp with 4 tents right on the edge of Wilpattu National Park, this option is a great choice in terms of location, just 5 minutes from the gates of the park.
The best feature about Wilpattu Safari Camp is the almost guaranteeing first entry into the park itself in the morning and afternoon. The property is very much in the open so if you are looking to be surrounded by nature and wildlife this is a fantastic place as peacocks and other animals happily walk through the camp and at night you can hear the elephant trumpeting in the distance. Although the tents and camp itself have great amenities it should be noted that it is an eco-lodge so it is also quite basic, which in turn really showcases the nature around you.
After a long afternoon in the park the camp is a great place to unwind, sitting by the bonfire with a drink and chatting with your family about the wildlife you have seen that day, then followed by an incredible 4 course meal cooked from scratch by the on-site chef is truly a great way to end a spectacular day.
This is a very good choice if you want a bit of an adventure and some privacy and a really lovely setting to embrace wildlife and relax.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
Sri Lanka was an experience and journey whilst the Maldives was luxury and heaven. Experience Travel Group were excellent - everything went to plan and was simple.
