Day-to-Day Itinerary : An Alternative Thailand

Day 1

Overnight flight to Bangkok

DAY 2: Arrive Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel. Time today to relax by the pool and maybe sample the superb food st the hotel restaurant (highly reccomended!).

DAY 3:JUNGLE OF BANGKOK - BY BIKE!

Cross the Chaopraya River to the relatively unknown area of Bang Ka Jao. A pleasant green area with waterways, temple, local houses and local markets. A completely alternative view of Bangkok! Riding is easy along small roads, alleys, paths and raised footpaths. Suitable for anyone that can ride a bike.

Day 4: Bangkok Street food tour.

This is one of our favourite tours in South East Asia - a brilliant little street food tour around historic Bangrak. It's as much a cultural tour, uncovering a view of Bangkok that tourists generally miss, but rest assured that you'll taste some superb street food along the way - and finish better equipped to enjoy Thailand's incredible cuisine throughout the rest of your holiday.

Day 5: Bridge over the river kwai

Depart from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi early the next morning, and visit Bridge over the River Kwai, the JEATH Museum and the Thailand Burma Railway Centre. Continue onto Pakseang pier and board a long tail boat upstream to reach the Jungle Rafts Resort. On arrival at Jungle Raft, check in room and rest of the day is at your own.

DAY 6: hintok River camp

Check out of your room and take a boat back to Paksaeng pier. Meet your driver on arrival, and drive to the Don-Rak War Cemetery which is located opposite Kanchanaburi Railway station. From there take a train on the Death Railway from the Bridge station to Nan Tok Station. Continue to your camp at Hintok River and the rest of the day is at your own leisure. Dinner is at your camp

Day 7: Hell Fire Pass Walking Trail

After breakfast you will visit the Hell Fire Pass and museum, a part of the Death Railway cut through the stone mountain. Here you will enjoy a hike along the walking trail which follows the alignment of the original Burma-Thailand railway from Hellfire Pass to beyond Compressor Cutting. Although the hike is only about 4km there are several steep scrambles meaning sturdy footwear and plenty of water is advised. You will then return to camp to relax and enjoy dinner.

DAY 8: hintok River Camp & erawan national park

A full day excursion today to the Erawan Waterfalls, located in the Namtok Erawan National Park; a mountainous landscape surrounded by fields of green. The falls are situated amongst rough jungle and are reputed to be the finest in Thailand. You can follow a trekking path inside the national park and cool off with a swim in one of the many emerald rock pools. Their are several caves around the park where you can explore and see some weird and wonderful limestone. Time permitting, you can also visit The Phra That Cave which is located twelve kilometres from the National Park. Inside the cave are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites distributed among 4 big rooms. Lunch is included.

DAY  9: overnight in phuket

Check out your room drive back to Bangkok Airport for your short domestic flight to Phuket. Overnight in Phuket.

Days 10 - 15: Koh Yao Noi

The development has been kept low key on Koh Yao Noi with only a handful of hotels.  Whilst there is plenty to do and see, the paradise island feel has been retained here. The majority of the island is still in its original pristine condition so a stay here is a real castaway island experience. There is tropical rain forest and vibrant coral reefs and of course, superb beaches and great little laid back beach bars and restaurants.

Koyao Island Resort is one of the beast beach resorts in Thailand: beautiful design, rustic simplicity (but all the mod cons) and a wonderful location. Bliss.

DAY 16 Flight Home

At the end, feeling suitably relaxed, fly home via Bangkok.
