This journey along the west coast of southern Thailand takes you to some of the best beaches in South East Asia. There is time to relax and explore as you travel from island (Koh) to island each time getting further away from the tourist crowds.
You’ll begin your journey on the well-known island of Phuket, this is a logical starting point and you’ll find it interesting to compare Phuket to the islands you’ll subsequently visit. After a couple of days acclimatising you’ll begin your expedition down south, the first boat will take you to Koh Yao for a few days, and then Koh Lanta and finally you’ll visit the rarely explored island of Koh Kradan. We feel that with this tour you’ll get a perspective on the diversity and beauty of the southern Thai islands that few tourists get to taste.
Begin at the Indigo Pearl hotel a “design hotel” on the shores of Phuket, although Phuket is Thailand’s most popular island it still has some very beautiful beaches and a great deal of charm. Next you’ll move on to the pristine, unspoilt coves and jungles of Koh Yao for a stay in the laid-back and idyllic Ko Yao Island Resort.
After Ko Yao it’s necessary to spend a night on the main land at Ao-Nang in Krabi. Ao Nang has a dramatic backdrop of limestone rock formations and a bustling little centre with markets, restaurants and the odd bar.
Next you move on to the sleepy and relaxed island of Koh Lanta where you stay at Sri Lanta. This is a great place to meet locals, sample some local seafood and while away the day’s snorkelling and kayaking off the sandy shores.
Finally you travel from Koh Lanta to Koh Kradan. A large proportion of Kradan remains part of Hat Chao Mai National Park and the island is known for its incredible crystal-clear blue waters, pristine beaches and teeming coral reefs.
This trip tends to work best from November to May due to Thai weather patterns and boat operations. Outside of these months our “East Coast Explorer” tour may be more suitable. Call us to discuss the time of year you are looking to travel.
