Shasa, Koh Samui
Shasa Resort & Residences is a rarity in Thailand; great quality yet reasonably priced suites right on the beach. This is a great resort for families who will have plenty of room to spread out and have two bedrooms with the peace of mind of being in the same suite. Additionally for families the resort has a kids club, babysitting services and a range of activities for children of various ages.
The hotel sits on Laem Set beach, this is a quiet location compared to Lamai and Chaweng yet not too far away from the islands main amenities and attractions.
The resort has just 32 suites so with a manageable number of guests the service levels are high. With expansive and impressive sea views each luxurious suite is designed specifically with space and size in mind. Every suite features a large private veranda and fully-equipped kitchenette, modern design elements with homely touches and modern amenities such as iPod docking stations and wifi.
The hotel has all the facilities you would expect from a 5* resort, including two large freeform pools, a restaurant and pool bar, gym and health club. Snorkelling and water-sports can be arranged through the hotel too.
The hotel’s spectacular Beachfront Pool Villa is the largest of the accommodations at 320sqm, with room to accommodate up to 4 adults and 4 children. With its own private infinity pool the Beachfront Pool Villa is located near to the beach and comes with a personal butler service!
Shasa provides luxurious accommodation with a range of sizes of suite. Due to Thai weather patterns this resort is particularly well-suited to families wanting to stay on the beach in Thailand whilst travelling in the July and August school holidays.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.

Really enjoyed the food tour. It took us to a part of Bangkok that we would never have visited. We visited 5 restaurants, some of which you would probably dismiss out of hand and carry on walking past from their appearance. They were also very clued up on local knowledge so it was a much a cultural tour as food tour.
