Racha, Koh Racha Island Thailand, West Coast and Islands
Twelve miles south of Phuket on the tiny island on Racha Yai sits The Racha, one of Thailand's finest hideaway resorts.
The Racha is splendidly located on Batok Beach, one of the best in Thailand with its clear turquoise waters and golden sand. This resort boasts luxurious, contemporary surroundings, magnificent sea views and an approach to environmentally responsible management few hotels can match. The Racha is the only resort we have visited to recycle water even from air-conditioning units. One of many examples of their sound practise with energy and waste.
The resort's 70 villas are chic, modern Asian style with bright living spaces, cool breezes and natural light. All feature open air rain showers, indoor and outdoor day beds, dvd players, broadband internet and facilities for making a real coffee. 'Superior Villas' are laid out in pairs, some have interconnecting doors. 'Deluxe Villas' have a slightly larger living space, private terraces and excellent sea views. 'Deluxe Villas with Pool' are similar but with private swimming or plunge pools. 'Pool Villas' are larger still and feature infinity swimming pools with sea views, large sundecks and open air relaxation pavilions. The recently constructed 'Lighthouse' is a unique three-storey villa with two bedrooms, private Jacuzzi and swimming pool. The view from the top is breathtaking, with a panoramic vista of Batok and Siam bays and the island's stunning interior.
The Anumba Spa displays the same attention to detail. The spa is an integral part of the hotel's concept, assisting the journey towards a balanced body and mind. The Racha has numerous restaurants and bars serving tasty, healthy food from a variety of Thai and International Cuisines. In villa dining is available.
A large rectangular infinity swimming pool runs parallel to the beach with great views. Another free-style pool is located in the resort gardens. A 10 minute stroll behind the hotel brings you to the equally breathtaking Siam Bay, where a couple of beach cafes serve food and drinks.
Access to The Racha is by private speedboat from Chalong Bay in Phuket. The journey from Phuket airport takes just over an hour.
Ultimate - There are very few hotels we would describe as 'ultimate'. Hotels in this category must have absolutely everything anyone could want and really be aiming for the stars. These hotels generally go well above and beyond and they would always be at the very top end of the market. These are for clients looking for that extra special place.

The Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok was superb and we couldn’t fault it. Wonderful service, friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast buffets, what more could you ask for?
