Thipwimarn, Koh Tao Island Thailand, East Coast and Islands
Thipwimarn Resort and Spa is a new development on Koh, providing another secluded and comfortable choice for sun-seekers and sea lovers. Located in the mountainous coastline of north Sairee Beach, the resort overlooks Nang Yuan Island from its vantage point on the hilly outcrop and is within walking distance of the main Sairee beach.
Designed in a contemporary, tropical style with many eco touches, the resort consists of a number of different suite rooms. The design aesthetic allows the resort to blend seductively into the mountainous landscape, with the wooden balconies and thatched roofs of the villas the only elements seen from outside. The views from all areas of the resort are great.
All the rooms have a distinctly Thai theme running through them in terms of style and decoration. Deluxe Suites are spacious and have a private outdoor sala relaxation area. Superior Suites are closer towards the sea, above the rocks on the shore. The Seaview Studio is built from hardwoods and has panoramic views of the sea. Finally, the Honeymoon Garden, as the name suggests, is the resorts finest suite and has larger living space and even greater privacy.
The resort has a small free-form swimming pool with view down the hillside and across Sairee Beach. A central restaurant has loungers and cushions as well as more formal arrangements and serves delicious food and drinks with a view. The resorts Spa has a wide ranging menu of treatments and therapies for those who wish to be pampered. Small and intimate, the spas treatment rooms are a delight, with excellent sea views.
Overall the resort is peaceful and relaxed. The beach is a short walk from the entrance and this ensures privacy and tranquillity. Nearby Sairee Beach has a wide selection of restaurants and bars for socialising, but the Thipwimarn itself is all about seclusion and really getting away from it all.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.

The Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok was superb and we couldn’t fault it. Wonderful service, friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast buffets, what more could you ask for?
