Loama Resort Maldives At Maamigili, Raa Atoll The Maldives, Central Islands
Opened in early 2015, Loama Resort offers an idyllic beach location and luxury accommodation on a relatively small island called Maamigili in the Raa Atol, 45 minutes from Male by seaplane. For an island of its size the resort offers a fantastic choice of dining options, including Thai, Mediterranean and Japanese. You can even swim across to the adjacent sandbank for a desert island picnic!
The resort has a commitment to preserving the heritage of the Maldivian people and has a touch of rustic charm in small but noteworthy ways. The lobby and rooms are punctuated by authentic local crafts and Loama is the first resort outside Male to operate a small museum and art gallery. The island was the site of an ancient settlement and an ancient bath, alongside a traditional house and herb garden provide a unique and interesting feature in the interior of the resort.
The island itself is surrounded by a reef so the snorkelling opportunities here are fantastic. Beach villas open up directly on to the sand and you can be swimming with colourful fish within steps of your room. Fishing, dolphin spotting and swimming with turtles can also be enjoyed.
Loama has 45 beach villas & suites spaced around its perimeter and a further 55 on stilts stretching out into the ocean (some with private pools). Talk to our consultants to discuss the best option for you, sunset view ocean villas could be ideal for couples whilst the 2 bedroom Beach family villas on land are ideal for those with children.
As to be expected of a resort of this standard, a beautiful spa, well equipped fitness centre, excellent kids club and freeform swimming pool will make your holiday experience complete.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
