A very comfortable hotel ideally situated near Hulhumale’s long stretch of beach with nearby restaurants and cafes. At only 15 minutes from Male’s international airport, it’s a perfect first or last stop in the Maldives.
Newton Inn is situated off ‘Airport Island’ on Hulhumale – an artificial island, built out of the ocean by the government. Dubbed as ‘Youth City,’ authorities are trying to encourage young people to resettle here from rural islands and from the capital to provide services more efficiently. There is a hive of construction everywhere, although it stops for the evening so you should not be disturbed during your stay at the Newton inn. There is a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial atmosphere to the area and lots of guest houses are opening along the beachfront, welcoming travellers who want to get a more insightful experience in The Maldives.
There are comfortable rooms available with A/C and other modern conveniences. Given the premium on space in The Maldives, the size will not be huge, but generally, you’ll only be stopping here for a night or so.
All in all, this is a perfect place to stay while in transit and an excellent base from which to explore Hulhumale and Male.
