A Foodie Journey Through Sri Lanka
Taste your way through Sri Lanka and trace the island's cultural history through the narrative of its fantastic food.
Sri Lanka, Hill Country
Both tea and coffee crops were first introduced by the British but are now very much a part of Sri Lankan culture. Take a trip into the hill country to learn how the farming and production process works from farm to cup.
This full-day tour will begin with a drive through rolling hills to the AMBA Estate, an organic farm and social enterprise which produces a range of artisanal tea. The knowledgeable employees will give you a tour of the estate and an introduction to the tea-making process, after which you’ll have a chance to sit down and enjoy a fresh cup.
Once suitably refreshed, you’ll take a short drive to Roseland Cottages for a delicious lunch served whilst taking in the views of the surrounding mountains. Roseland has an organic coffee farm, and the owner will take you on a tour of the workshop while explaining the process of producing hand-roasted coffee before a final tasting session to end the day.
The day is a great way to experience the beautiful countryside of Sri Lanka’s hill country, learn about the significance of the industries from local people, and sample some fantastic tea, coffee, and food.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
