Temples
There are too many incredible temples in Asia to count. From world-famous sites like Angkor Wat, Borobodur and the Shwedagon Pagoda to colourful shrines in local villages, temples can provide a remarkable insight into a country’s spirit. For history buffs, temple ruins are a portal to a bygone era; for those who love to learn about culture, places of worship open the door to modern customs and spirituality.
We would highly recommend visiting at least one of these remarkable sites on any holiday to Asia. That said… There are only so many you can cram in one itinerary (most travellers know what it’s like to be “templed out”). To that end, when we plan holidays, we always try to strike a balance between discovery and downtime, based on the individual traveller’s needs (and threshold for temple time!).
