Luxury Bhutan
Incredible hotels in amazing locations add the icing on the cake to the one off experience of exploring Bhutan.
This first part of this wonderful half-day hike involves a steep uphill ascent which requires some degree of effort, however, you’ll reap the rewards with the awesome view from the top. The morning begins with a short drive to Longteng Village. From here you set off on a hike passing towering bushes of bamboo bushes. This hike is remarkable at any time of the year but particularly so in the spring when the woodlands on either side of the valley are covered in colourful rhododendron.
In the winter months, the views from the top reveal the snow-capped Himalayas to the north.
When you reach the top you are rewarded with unobstructed views; Gangtey Valley in all its finery spread out below you, prayer flags fluttering in the foreground and the snow-capped Himalayas in the distance. The descent is fairly easy and you’ll pass small farmhouses and yaks grazing as you walk down towards the Shedra (monk college). The hike ends near Gangtey Lodge, if you’re staying there you’ll end with a warm apple cider by the fire. If you’re staying elsewhere your driver will meet you for the short transfer back to your hotel.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively with you.
