The Buddha Dordenma is an enormous golden statue in the mountains overlooking the Thimphu Valley. Travel up with your guide and explore the grounds in the morning light when the Buddha glints and glimmers in the sun. Your guide will explain how this massive structure got here (relatively recently) and show you around the intricate meditation hall. Whilst the statue and chapel are impressive, the views of Thimphu are immense; this is the perfect place to visit on your first morning in Bhutan to get a sense of how incredible the vistas really are. For active visitors, there is a cycle trail here too - bicycles can be easily arranged and your guide will accompany you.
