A visit to the Lemanak Iban Longhouse is unique, and the warm welcome from local families will make for an unforgettable memory. While the accommodation is very basic, it’s a fantastic experience for open-minded families and couples wanting an authentic experience.
Situated along the Lemanak River, this Iban Longhouse homestay lets you live with the locals for a night or so and join in with their day-to-day life. From sharing daily meals with the local community to exploring up and down the nearby river in a traditional longboat, there is lots to see and do.
Accommodation is very basic, and you can expect little privacy. Bathroom facilities may not have running water and are usually outside the main building of the longhouse. A torch will be needed for when it gets dark in the evenings.
In summary, this is a truly unique experience and an unforgettable memory if you’re happy to sacrifice a little comfort for authenticity.
Basic - The 'Basic' category covers places which are very simple indeed, with extremely rudimentary facilities. These places are used when they are part of the experience, such as a village homestay, or when there are no other hotels available in an area.
