Bamboo Rafting & Hiking,
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
Info : Bamboo Rafting & Hiking
This is a dawn to dusk hiking and rafting day through some of the richest forest tracts of Periyar Tiger Reserve, starting with a hike through forests rich in bird life and arboreal animals such as the giant squirrel and the Nilgiri langur. The rafting then lasts for about three hours and includes a stunning panoramic view of the forest-clad hills reflected on the lake, while elephants, gaur and sambar deer can sometimes be seen at the water's edge.
The rest of the adventure is on foot. A forest guard and 4 guides accompany a maximum of 10 on this group adventure. Tea, snacks and packed lunch are served on route. A fantastic walk with lovely views and a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the wildlife of the area.
The one-on-one guide arranged with Experience Travel Group enabled me to get so much more from my trip to India. As well as the almost compulsory visits to the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, I was shown a variety of busy towns and mall villages, traditional crafts and skills, religious buildings and practices, architecture and wildlife, finishing with a very relaxing stay in Tikli Bottom.
