Classic Family Thailand
A little bit of everything Thai - from Bangkok street food to countryside bicycle rides to off-the-beaten-track idyllic beaches.
The Tamarind Village Chiang Mai is a charming hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai's old city. Consisting of 41 rooms and five suites it offers good value for money in a prime location for taking in the sites of the city.
Constructed around a 200-year-old Tamarind Tree, the hotel has a lot of character and is noticeably peaceful for an inner-city property. Rooms are split into four categories Lanna, Lanna Deluxe, Tamarind Suite and Spa Suite. Space is the main difference between the different types, and all are comfortably furnished. The hotel is decorated in a traditional Lanna (northern Thai) style throughout, using fabrics and patterns drawn from the various tribes of the region.
A turquoise swimming pool links the two main buildings of Tamarind Village Chiang Mai. Surrounded by loungers and parasols, it is a great place to cool off after walking around the city. The Ruen Tamarind Restaurant and bar is split into two levels with both indoor and outdoor seating and serves a variety of food and cocktails. A range of traditional northern Thai dishes complement a selection of international choices. The spa offers a range of massages and treatments.
Tamarind Village Chiang Mai is a 15-minute transfer from the Chiang Mai airport and train station. Within easy walking distance are some of the city's best attractions including a host of ancient temples, restaurants and the ever-popular night bazaar.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
