Vietnam with a Culinary Twist
As well as being delicious, Vietnamese food provides an excellent historical narrative for a holiday.
Hue’s garden houses are illustrious examples of grand dynasties passed. Each is built with traditional old timbers, featuring the typical brick roofing of Hue and set amidst beautiful, landscaped gardens. Hue’s garden houses used to be the residences of royal relatives, royal officials, elite families, poets, and writers during the time when Hue was the capital of Vietnam. Today, ancestors are worshipped in the main buildings while their descendants are living in the divided parts of the home. It can be said that these garden houses are a link between royal and folk architecture from the time when Hue was the epicentre of Vietnamese culture.
Today you will visit one of the best-preserved houses located between the Royal Palace and Thien Mu Pagoda. You will be welcomed by the owner, who is more than happy to share his knowledge with you about Hue’s history and architecture. His wife will then prepare a traditional Vietnamese lunch which you can enjoy together in the tranquillity of their garden.
You can include this experience as part of an Experience Travel Group holiday designed exclusively for you.
