The resort was founded in partnership with the local Sumbanese community, and that connection runs deep — from visits to monumental megalithic burial sites to beachside horse races, a flurry of colour and excitement.
The Rooms
A number of thatched-roof villas are dotted around the sprawling grounds in various shapes and sizes, suited to both couples and groups of friends or family.
All have lovely thatched roofs, open-air living spaces to let in those wide-screen ocean views, and plunge pools (trust us, it’s hard to resist a midnight dip under the stars).
Interiors are beautifully done with billowing white four-poster beds, and feel luxurious without ever feeling too flashy. The bathrooms are a highlight with huge soaking tubs and al fresco showers.
For families, the Treehouse villa is a great choice with its three bedrooms, two pools and lots of space to spread out.
