South Lombok features an incomparable multitude of unspoilt tropical beaches, ideal for beachgoers and adventure seekers alike. Kuta is a hectic surfers’ town in full development and is a great base to explore the surroundings without being isolated. A variety of bars, restaurants, yoga and surfing schools stretch along the beaches and hills, offering a friendly atmosphere and beautiful views.
A short drive away, you will find the gem that is Mawun beach, safe for swimming and surfing. Tanjun Aan bay is also worth a visit. Gerupuk is a peaceful and charming village that offers a privileged insight into Sasak local life, and its bay features some of the best surfing spots in Indonesia. From easier breaks to challenging and powerful ones, there are usually always waves to surf here due to its different breaks and tides.
A breathtaking ride through tobacco plantations brings you to the Ekas peninsula in Southeast Lombok, renowned for its world-class surf-breaks and kite-surfing spots in the West and quiet beaches in the East. Remotely located and not easily accessible, Ekas still offers a diverse range of accommodation and restaurant options. There are still plenty of opportunities for watersports here, whilst Ekas avoiding the crowds found in more popular spots.
You cannot miss Tanjung Ringgit, an area of exquisite beauty located on the tip of the Pemongkong Peninsula. The area boasts coral-filled bays, stunning beaches, managed forests and farmland, diving, surfing and hiking, plus an incredible view over one of Indonesia’s highest peaks, Mt. Rinjani. These attractions are all at a short boat ride from each other. In Tanjung Ringgit, you will also find Tangsi beach, one of the world’s few pink beaches, which owes its colour to a sensitive red coral ecosystem in the bay.
