The Marian, a beautiful, old colonial-style building, once was a pre-war family mansion and has now been restored to reflect its heritage and charming original design. Situated in the heart of Kuching, this boutique hotel is surrounded by the river and many of the cities highlights. Just a short walk away is the Sarawak Museum and the Kuching Waterfront Bazaar.
The hotel offers 40 rooms including standard rooms, family rooms and a 2-bed apartment. Breakfast is served at the on-site restaurant, The Granary. In the evenings, you can enjoy cocktails, homemade desserts and western food and on the weekend local bands play. You’ll find that the hotel has paid particular attention to retaining the key features of the building during its renovation, such as the original timber flooring, while delightful architectural features and contemporary touches are found throughout the rooms, too. The rooms are simple yet comfortable and offer all of the necessary amenities.
We feel this hotel is suited to travellers who want to experience the local history and culture of Kuching, all while being comfortable and situated in an ideal location.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
