Off The Beaten Track Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh
Experience an enchanting fusion of vibrant culture, history, and untouched landscapes.
Sitting on 120 acres of privately owned farmland, this heritage hotel offers a glimpse of history and a stay fit for a maharaja. The blend of Mughal and colonial architecture and the beautiful views of the rolling hills and countryside are special.
Initially built in the early 1900s by the Kathiwada royal family, the mansion and its grounds were lovingly restored in 2007 with help from the Indian National Trust. The structure and interior of the building were fortified and decorated, but the interior still serves as a time capsule of art deco décor, vintage furniture, and Kathiwada family memorabilia.
Each of the 11 rooms has a unique style, blending heritage decoration and furnishings with modern amenities to create a sense of subtle grandeur. Guests are welcome to step out of their regal surroundings, and the hotel offers excursions to local villages and guided treks through the forests and jungles that make up the incredible landscape of the border of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The vast grounds, spacious rooms, and sizeable swimming pool make the hotel suitable for all kinds of visitors. That being said, there’s a slight chance that younger children might not quite appreciate the art deco furnishings and artefacts of a bygone era with such enthusiasm as more mature guests.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
