A Full Day Around Jebel Samhan

Spend a full day exploring the highlights of the Dhofar mountain range by 4×4.

Begin your journey through the village of Taqa, pausing at the Taqah Plateau for an excellent photo opportunity with sweeping views of the waves and cliffs along the coastline. As you continue, the landscape transforms into vibrant emerald green fields on the way to Wadi Darbat. Take a stroll along the wadi bed, spotting camels, cattle, and goats grazing peacefully.

During the monsoon season, the wadi comes alive as the waterfall cascades powerfully into the surrounding lakes -a truly spectacular sight.

Next, stop at Tawi Attair to marvel at one of the world’s largest sinkholes, plunging 211 metres deep and spanning 150 metres in diameter. Known as the ‘Well of Birds,’ it is home to countless birds that make this natural wonder their habitat.

Continue further into the mountains to reach the Grand Canyon of Dhofar, perched on a plateau around 1,700 metres high. From here, take in the vast Qara mountain range and the sweeping eastern coastline, a breathtaking panorama that perfectly captures the region’s dramatic beauty.
