Colours of Oman & India
Explore India's Golden Triangle at a slow pace then neatly connect to Oman for mountain and beach adventures.
For a visit to the Taj Mahal, the Trident at Agra is functional and comfortable. The hotel is a particularly solid choice for families, thanks to its broad range of facilities and lovely lawns. Trident Hotels belong to the same group as the grand and glorious Oberoi facilities, but are more affordable.
Agra is home to the magnificent Taj Mahal, undoubtedly the city’s largest draw card. As the sun rises and sets, rays of light reflect of the Taj Mahal’s opulent marble surfaces, making it glow in a luminous shade of pink. It took Emperor seventeen years to complete it, and he dedicated the result to Mumtaz Mahal, his wife. Agra has other sightseeing treasures, too, and plenty of day trips in close proximity, such as Fatehpur Sikri, the Chambal Valley, and the Bateshwar temple complex.
The rooms here are small and basic, but they feature all the usual contemporary facilities you’d expect. If you have the choice, opt for a Premier room: they were refurbished in 2015, and as such, the amenities are much more modern. As well as Indian specialties, you can enjoy Mediterranean food in an alfresco setting at the Italian restaurant, aptly named Al Fresco.
Visit Agra to witness the Mughal influence and the city’s artistic flair. Once you’re done gaping at the Taj Mahal, stay at the Trident overnight and then move on. It’s not the most stylish hotel in the neighbourhood, but it’s certainly practical.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.
