The scenery is lush, varied and breathtaking, and there are plenty of wonderful places to stay. You’ll pick up the pace by exploring the surrounding landscapes before returning back to base to relax by a lovely swimming pool or choose from rejuvenating wellness experiences.

Immerse in diverse cultures, witness awe-inspiring landscapes and explore geological wonders. From mist-covered lakes to cascading falls, each day promises a new marvel.
From the northern frontiers, you’ll head to Halong Bay. Rather than the standard 1-night option, we’ve suggested a two-night cruise here on a spectacular boat (which you might like time to enjoy) which will take you beyond the main route to hidden corners of Cat Ba Island and the equally magnificent (but less visited) scenery of Lan Ha Bay.
This extraordinary journey finishes with a stay near the sacred Yen Tu Mountain in a converted monastery. An unusual end to an extraordinary itinerary.

Explore Hue’s historic treasures, from imperial tombs to the tranquil Perfume River.
In our eyes, a few of the best destinations in Vietnam for families are:
Hue for the perfect blend of adventure, history, and culture. Enjoy some good old-fashioned family time by swapping screens for the great outdoors and meander through little villages by bike to discover ancient garden houses.
Quy Nhon for blissful beach time (or watersports for restless teens).
Lak Lake for a proper off-the-beaten-track adventure.
Vietnam’s cities are also great fun for teenagers. Hanoi is incredible: labyrinthine alleyways come alive each morning with a flurry of activities like aerobics and badminton before turning into a hubbub of colour and energy. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon to its friends) is fun too. You might be able to buy fake branded goods at very low prices. So we’ve heard anyway. You can definitely visit the Cu Chin Tunnels and enjoy a Banh Mi or five…
There are plenty more places in Vietnam that we recommend for families. For personalised recommendations, get in touch with our specialists.

With ETG, what’s included goes well beyond the basics. From the moment your trip begins to your final farewell, the essentials are already taken care of, leaving you free to immerse, explore and enjoy without the hassle of hidden extras.
Here’s what comes as standard in all of our holidays:
As every holiday is bespoke, prices vary depending on destination, flights, hotel choices, inclusions and travel dates. We aim to include as much as possible upfront, so you know exactly where you are. As an approximate guide:
Yes. With good infrastructure, varied experiences, and engaging activities, Vietnam works for all ages. We design pacing to fit your family.
Vietnamese food is fresh and often mild. Kids tend to love bánh mì, noodle dishes, and tropical fruit. Most hotels also offer Western options.
Not with ETG. We avoid long overland journeys for younger families and break up days with downtime or short flights. Everything is paced just right.
Ideally, at least six to nine months ahead. Especially if you’re travelling during school holidays like summer or Christmas. Vietnam’s best family-friendly hotels and experiences get snapped up quickly. Booking early gives you more choice and peace of mind, but we can sometimes work magic at shorter notice too.
You’ll receive five emails from us as well as the guide you requested. They will be inspiring, helpful content about holidays in this country with ETG. You’ll then be added to our weekly newsletter list, but you can always unsubscribe using the link in any of our emails.
