Info : The Claridges
This modern international style hotel was constructed in 1952 in an upmarket area of New Delhi close to all the cultural and commercial highlights. The vibe here is classic elegance, and sprawling green lawns and a lovely pool area complement the elegant rooms.
Dining here is fun and fabulous, with plenty to choose from. The Dhaba Restaurant offering Indian roadside cuisine, and Jade serves authentic Chinese specialties. Sevilla is inspired by the Mediterranean, and there’s even an old-style bakery. You can get drinks and snacks by the pool, and wherever you go, expect friendly personal service.
Renovations over the years mean that some of the wings are more modern than others, and some rooms have smaller sized bathrooms. For a slightly more contemporary feel, book a room in the Cabana wing, and if the family is with you, book an interconnecting room.
The Claridges is a lovely understated Colonial hotel, though it might not inspire such superlatives as spectacular or sumptuous. For that reason, it is a great value hotel and surprisingly affordable, and the perfect base for all types of guests to New Delhi.
Superior - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, in terms of character, guest experience or facilities too.

The one-on-one guide arranged with Experience Travel Group enabled me to get so much more from my trip to India. As well as the almost compulsory visits to the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, I was shown a variety of busy towns and mall villages, traditional crafts and skills, religious buildings and practices, architecture and wildlife, finishing with a very relaxing stay in Tikli Bottom.
