Nirjhara
Secluded setting,
Sleek and stylish
Solo,
Couples,
Families
Tucked into rice fields and jungle near Bali’s quieter west coast, Nirjhara is a peaceful, design-led retreat with a real sense of calm.
It feels a world away from the bustling tourist areas – you’d never guess it’s just 30 minutes from lively Seminyak, and a straightforward 90-minute drive from Ngurah Rai airport.
Villas and suites are built from natural materials and blend into their surroundings, think timber decks, stone paths and the gentle sound of flowing water.
The setting is lush and soothing, the service warm and intuitive.
With a spa, triple-tiered pool and easy access to coastal villages, it’s a great base for switching off and seeing a different side of Bali.
Nirjhara suits couples and families who want space, nature and a slower pace without going totally off-grid.
It’s close enough for easy trips to Tanah Lot and Ubud, but far enough from the crowds to feel like a proper escape.
When you’re not out exploring, the spa, riverside yoga shala and saltwater pool give you ample ways to properly unwind.
The delicious meals at Ambu Restaurant are a highlight: best looking onto a waterfall and nowhere else to be.
The Rooms
With just 25 suites and villas, Nirjhara feels nice and personal. And very comfortable.
Canopy Suites are set up in the trees with rooftop baths and jungle views: beautiful, though they do involve a fair amount of stairs.
River Pavilions offer more space at ground level and are ideal for couples or families with younger children (despite the name, you won’t see the river directly).
Two-bedroom villas come with private pools but are split across two buildings, so better suited to older families or friends travelling together.
