Sara caught the travel bug early and, frankly, never looked back. After university, she squeezed in sabbaticals before turning her travel addiction into a career. She worked for two of the UK’s top tour operators, designing bespoke holidays to India and Sri Lanka, before bringing her expertise (and boundless enthusiasm) to Experience Travel Group.
Few know India quite like Sara. She’s been over ten times (and counting), teaching English at an SOS Children’s Village in Madhya Pradesh, doing fieldwork in Kerala and West Bengal, and even driving a colourful tuk-tuk 1,500 miles from north to south, veering well off the beaten track. (Ask her about the hairiest moments!).
Sure, she knows the honeypot sights, but it’s the lesser-known gems that light her up: the homestays, food and textile markets, remote temples, and quiet spiritual spots that rarely make it into guidebooks (and certainly not your average Google search).
With Sara’s expertise built up over nearly two decades, you’ll see shades of India that most travellers miss and have a whole lot of fun.
She’s also well-versed in Bhutan’s gloriously off-grid landscapes, monasteries and meaningful encounters. And Nepal, where she hunted for the ETG edge and uncovered the country’s wonders beyond the treks: heritage towns, delicate crafts, and heart-warming rural communities.
Sara also has a soft spot for Sri Lanka. On her most recent work recce, she explored the ancient ruins of the less-developed North Central Province and wandered the quiet beaches of Jaffna. On a personal trip, she loved taking over a villa with her extended family – an experience packed with plenty of special moments that linger long in her memory.
The Maldives is her (not-so-secret) guilty pleasure, especially after a culture-packed Sri Lankan adventure.
And then there’s tranquil Thailand, one of the latest strings to her bow.
“So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
