Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu,
Borneo, Borneo (Sabah)
Info : Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu
With a great location in downtown Kota Kinabalu, Le Meridien offers modern style and a friendly atmosphere.
The waterfront location of the hotel means that the cities sights and shopping opportunities are within easy reach, with the Centre Point and Warison Square shopping malls as well as the popular handicraft market all just a short walk away. Evenings can be spent exploring the waterfront esplanade, with many restaurants and bars.
There are a variety of rooms and suites to choose from, with views of both the city and the South China Sea, and on a clear day, even the distant Mount Kinabalu. The hotel boasts two restaurants, the international Circle Restaurant and for the more carnivorous, the Flames Steak Restaurant. If you tire of shopping and sightseeing, the hotel also has an outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and gym available for your use.
This is a great option for families, with inter-connecting rooms on offer. They even have a kids menu at the Circle Restaurant. Its also great for couples and a great way to combine a city stay with sea views. In essence Le Meridien is a good choice for anyone spending a couple of nights exploring ‘KK’.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
We all remarked on how well tourism blended in to the local community in a positive way. At no point did we ever feel exploited or taken advantage of. We felt privileged to visit the Penan tribe in Mulu and enjoyed the market there without any pressure to spend money. Visiting Abai village and planting the trees was also a great experience for all ages of our party. Again, a privilege.
