Six Senses Thimphu
Valley views,
Mountain retreat
Couples,
Families
High on a hillside above Bhutan’s capital, among pine forests and apple orchards, this is a retreat with its head in the clouds.
Six Senses Thimphu sits around 2,650 metres up, with sweeping views across the Thimphu Valley to the giant Buddha Dordenma statue. Known as the “Palace in the Sky”, its design pays graceful homage to Bhutan’s history and landscapes.
It’s a serene, lavish base that still keeps the city within easy reach.
The main building is all about the view.
Its huge windows look out over a reflective pond, with a sunken lounge and fire pit that’s perfect for cool mountain evenings.
The spa and wellness centre has an indoor swimming pool, a gym and a range of treatments, ideal after a day of exploring temples and dzongs.
Thimphu’s markets, monasteries and museums are a short drive away, so it’s easy to balance sightseeing with plenty of time to unwind.
All in all, this is a truly special mountain retreat, with superb service, scenery and facilities.
The Rooms
This is Six Senses’ largest lodge in Bhutan, with 20 open-plan suites and five villas scattered through the forest.
The rooms are generously sized, with a lounge area and a large bathroom.
Whether from your bed, your balcony or your bath, the valley views are the star of the show.
