Jamtara Wilderness Camp
Machaan experience,
National park access
Couples,
Nature Enthusiasts
Jamtara Wilderness Camp is located on the Madhya Pradesh side of Pench and is much more isolated than other lodges in the National Park and Tiger Reserve.
This gives it an authentic safari feel. It’s lovely and simple with communal dining, a bar, a beautiful pool, and a small library on site.
This is a unique safari location with a comfortable Colonial feel to it, which sets it apart from other safari experiences India has to offer.
The most exciting drawcard at Jamtara is the unique opportunity to sleep under the stars on a Machaan (a star bed) under a mosquito net, overlooking acres of farmland on a stilted platform. This exciting initiative helps bring in revenue for local farmers.
Most people come to Jamtara for a safari experience, and the naturalist working here shares his infectious enthusiasm for the forest on a walking safari.
If you’d prefer not to do a safari, you can participate in village life, take afternoon walks or bike tours, or participate in cooking lessons at the wilderness camp’s cooking school.
The Rooms
Twelve luxury tents are fitted out with hardwood floors, antique desks sourced from the Supreme Court of India, and modern style bathrooms. They are comfortable and attractive, and materials used in their construction were sourced locally.
