Katie and Jehan Bujhwala are the power couple behind the Shergarh campsite and lodge, and the pair operate according to some great eco-friendly principles.
They’ve created a comfortable and casual camping environment that is friendly and beneficial to the surrounding wildlife, with a focus on outstanding wildlife experiences in Kanha.
All in all, Shergarh is simple and friendly camping in a beautiful part of the world. Don’t come here if you need your creature comforts, come here for a rugged and unforgettable wildlife experience in a friendly, social, responsible environment.
The campsite is located in a quieter part of the national park with a water reserve right in the centre. This makes for great bird spotting (watch out for egrets, cormorants, and kingfisher) and is a popular spot to socialise too. You can take walks in the surrounding village or go cycling.
The camp is a rustic, uncomplicated, and responsible operation and the surrounding jungle is untouched.
The Rooms
Six tents recently got a refurbishment (2014), and all are private and homely. There’s an attached veranda made of mud, and the bedroom has plenty of space with twin or double beds. Nice bathrooms are attached to each tent.
There’s also a bar, a dining area where meals are shared, and a library.
