Nor Khill means “house of jewels”, an apt title for this beautiful and glowing heritage hotel.
It’s cosy and intimate here, so expect warm furnishings, plenty of history, and a wealth of rugged natural beauty all around.
This is the place to stay if you’re keen to trek and explore the incredibly beautiful natural surroundings by foot or by mountain bike. Still, you don’t wish to feel too isolated — a popular choice in bustling Gangtok, particularly for families.
In central Gangtok, the hotel is nestled at an altitude of 1500 metres above sea level. The owners strive for a comfortable and welcoming vibe, a sort of home away from home. What makes Elgin Nor Khill different from other hotels in the Sikkim region is its proximity to bars and restaurants on Gangtok’s MG Road – you’re not limited to just dining and drinking at the hotel (although you’ll want to – the Sikkimese and Nepalese specialities are delicious.)
After a day in the hills, or a walk through the streets of Gangtok, relax at the hotel’s stunning spa.
The Rooms
The 25 rooms and suites are decorated in traditional Sikkimese style, all of them elegantly furnished with magnificent mountain views and Burma teak flooring. If you’re bringing the kids, there’s a common activity room that’s particularly popular with children and babysitters.
