Tucked away in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park offers one of the richest wildlife experiences in Southern India.
Once the Maharaja of Mysore’s private hunting ground, it’s now a protected haven within the Nilgiri biosphere – a vast expanse that also includes Nagarhole, Wayanad and Mudumalai. The park’s undulating hills and forests, nourished by four rivers, are home to one of the largest wild elephant populations in South Asia, along with diverse birdlife and rare species. Though tigers are present, Bandipur is best appreciated for its serene landscapes and exceptional elephant and bird sightings.
