Amanjiwo
Soul-stirring scenery,
Phenomenal pool
Couples
Amanjiwo comes with the luxurious comforts and impeccable service that you’d expect from Aman – plus, it has one of the finest settings imaginable by Borobudur Temple.
This high-end hotel is a firm ETG favourite, not just in Indonesia but across all of Asia. The clever architecture means that the retreat enhances its wonderful surroundings and provides a great backdrop for the magnificent monument nearby.
Set halfway up a hill, the circular central lobby has a sight line from the driveway directly to the temple complex 2.5 km away, making it one of the first things you notice on arrival. Just magic.
Ideal for couples, design lovers and anyone after a once-in-a-lifetime stay, Amanjiwo offers you both indulgence and a deep connection to Java’s culture and scenery.
The hotel is very conveniently located for a visit to Borobudur, followed by a refreshing dip in the 40m glistening pool. The restaurant is a fabulous setting to rest and refuel, looking directly out over Borobudur and the sprawling greenery of picturesque paddy fields, forests and volcanoes. Sit back and soak it all in.
The Rooms
33 suites are scattered along two crescents below the central rotunda, each with Aman’s signature blend of clean design, generous space and a strong sense of place. Think terrazzo flooring, high ceilings and subtle Javanese touches, plus large al fresco areas for soaking up the scenery (some come with private pools if you’re after the full works).
All suites share the same thoughtful layout, but views vary: some overlook the Menoreh Hills and patchwork paddies, others face the forested plains towards Borobudur.
It’s worth saying that Aman’s minimalist style – all clean lines, neutral tones and calm – isn’t for everyone, but comfort is never in question.
