Going off the beaten track in Bali’s countryside to feel the magic of ‘The Island of the Gods’
Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge
Once-in-a-lifetime adventure,
Exclusive access
Couples
Families
Immerse yourself in the rainforest at this simple but characterful eco-lodge on the banks of the Sekonyer River in Kalimantan.
Surrounded by jungle and accessible only by boat, Rimba Ecolodge offers a front-row seat to the natural world of Indonesian Borneo — with the troop of wild macaques around the lodge, Proboscis monkeys across the water, and orangutans just upriver at the Tanjung Harapan feeding station.
It’s a great base for exploring Tanjung Puting National Park, especially for those looking to combine wildlife experiences with the rhythm of riverside life.
The Rooms
The timber lodge is made up of pavilions, housing 32 rooms of varying standards.
Some having their private boardwalks down to the river as well as private verandas.
We particularly recommend the Diamond, Emerald and Amethyst rooms, which come with air conditioning and hot water, allowing for humidity control in the tropical climate.
It’s worth noting that his eco lodge is an excellent example of nature tourism done right. The lodge actively supports its surroundings in various ways: the team runs environmental education at the local primary school and use locally trained guides through the Guides Association. Guests who’d like to get involved are encouraged to bring books or writing materials for the school in Tanjung Harapan.
