Set on a particularly scenic stretch of Khao Lak’s coastline, Devasom is a natural fit for families wanting a high-end base in Khao Lak.
This beach retreat sits between a natural lagoon and one of the area’s best sunset beaches, giving it a quality of light and calm.
With just under 70 rooms and villas spread across three hectares, it’s a good size: enough space to feel private, but small enough that the beach is always a short walk away and there’s no need to hop in a buggy.
The architecture takes its cues from the art and trade culture of the Asian Silk Road, which gives the property an atmosphere that feels considered and a little different, rather than generic.
There’s a sea-facing marble pool, a spa, a gym and a kids club to keep everyone happy.
When you’re ready to venture out, swim, snorkel, kayak or paddleboard straight from the beach, or head further out by traditional longtail to a quieter stretch of coast.
On land, bicycle tours wind through coconut and rubber plantations, local villages and temples, and Khao Lak National Park is close enough for a day of mountain trekking or jungle rafting if you fancy it.
For food, the long-standing Michelin-listed beach grill and bar is an easy evening option, and when you want something a bit more special, the resort has a Bib Gourmand Thai restaurant, ‘Takola’.
The Rooms
Every room faces the water, so the Andaman sea views are a given. The design blends contemporary Thai style with older maritime influences from across Southeast Asia, and it carries through consistently from the architecture to the interiors.
We recommend the Seaside Grand Deluxe Rooms for most: each is on the upper floor, with a private balcony with a daybed, and a standalone bathtub. Crucially, these rooms connect via balcony, making them the most practical and comfortable option for families travelling together.
