We usually favour small, boutique hotels, but neither couples nor families can go wrong with Four Seasons Koh Samui. It sits in the island’s quiet north-west, well away from the busier resorts, with sweeping views across the bay.
It strikes a rare balance, as romantic for two as it is fun for the whole family.
The resort has its own private beach, and there’s something for everyone.
Couples can unwind in the spa or settle in for a long, lazy dinner, while children aged 2 to 12 have their own club with beach games, water sports, crafts and cooking classes.
There’s plenty to explore beyond the resort, too. Take a boat trip to the spectacular Ang Thong Marine Park to snorkel in crystal-clear water, visit the Big Buddha along the coast, or head out for some local Thai food.
All in all, this is a polished, easy-going base for discovering Samui, whoever you’re travelling with.
