Harmony@Huailan Home Ecolodge
Community-led village stay,
Gorgeous rural setting
Couples,
Families
Set around a large koi fishpond, framed by paddy fields and the forested hills of Sankhampaeng, Harmony at Huailan is an gorgeous community-run stay.
About 45 minutes south of Chiang Mai, it feels rural, immersive, and special.
The owners of this eco lodge really know their stuff and take care to celebrate and support the local community, offering guests meaningful, hands-on experiences close to local life. Days here revolve around nature: biking and hiking to reach scenic Huai Lan Reservoir or into the forest, bamboo cooking lessons and time spent understanding the reforestation work.
Birdlife is a real highlight, with around 100 species recorded in the area, making early mornings particularly rewarding.
Ideal for couples and families seeking a lovely, natural setting and travellers up for getting stuck into the activities.
We don’t recommend it to those with mobility issues as most of the experiences take place outdoors, or if you’re after certain facilities like a pool.
If you have time, stay two or three nights to really make the most of it. It’s a great constrast to Chiang Mai city.
The Rooms
Simple but thoughtfully done, the guest houses were designed by a local Chiang Mai architect using reclaimed, restored wood.
There are just two Mountain Cabins, each sleeping up to five people, making them a great fit for families.
Inside, you’ll find a master bedroom with a double bed, a twin room and a sofa bed. Bedrooms are air-conditioned for comfortable nights, while the open living spaces and generous balcony make the most of the mountain setting.
Throughout, hand-made details by local community members, from cushions and curtains to basins, tiles and lampshades, give the cabins real character and a strong sense of place.
