The Surin

Hillside cottages tumbling down to one of Phuket’s most beautiful and secluded beaches.
The Surin (formerly The Chedi) sits on Pansea Bay, a quiet stretch of golden sand on Phuket’s west coast. The beach is shared only with neighbouring Amanpuri, so it’s never crowded, and there are no vendors.
It’s a calm, beautifully designed retreat with a real sense of place.
The resort’s design draws on natural colours and traditional Thai art, with more than a nod to the country’s temple architecture.
The lobby, restaurant and arrival area sit near the top of the hill, with jungle paths winding down past the cottages to the beach. At the bottom, a striking hexagonal pool sits just behind the sand, though with a beach this good you may barely use it.
There are three restaurants and bars serving Thai and Western food and cocktails, and in-room dining can be arranged too.
The Rooms
Around 100 cottages and suites are spread across the hillside, linked by jungle pathways.
Every room has a dressing area and its own outdoor sun deck.
The cottages closest to the bottom of the hill are just steps from the sand, while those higher up enjoy sweeping views over the bay.
