Misool Eco Resort, Raja Ampat

Stay here and discover the wild beauty and secluded paradise of Raja Ampat. Set on a private island surrounded by some of the world’s richest marine biodiversity, you’ll find hundreds of coral and fish species under the turquoise waters surrounding Misool.  As the name implies and the pristine environment requires, the resort is eco-friendly; the area and dive sites are no-take zones that are patrolled by rangers, organic, local produce is served, and rooms are built from reclaimed tropical hardwood. Your visit to Misool also directly helps to support the marine conservation of the 1,200 sq km area.

Dedicated staff, divers and marine biologists are on hand to share their expertise and enhance your stay. Several dives take place each day, allowing you to delve into this epicentre of marine biodiversity. Other tours and activities are available such as snorkelling, kayaking, picnics on deserted beaches and mangrove tours. Paradise can be found both below and above the waters in Misool!

The restaurant sits on the lagoon and serves delicious, local foods along with Asian and Western cuisines.

Rooms are either set over the lagoon on stilts or perched on the beach, with a rustic style that still feels luxurious - the setting, of course, adds to the luxury. In keeping with the eco theme, the furnishings have been handmade by local artisans from recycled materials. The verandah makes for a great spot to relax and take in your surroundings, and some even have built-in hammocks over the water.

The resort is reached by a flight to Sorong Airport followed by a 4-hour boat transfer. Given the remote location, there is a minimum stay of 7 nights, but a visit is well recommended as it will be something of a once-in-a-lifetime experience in an extraordinary part of the world.
