From Java to Raja Ampat: an Indonesian Extravaganza
A transformative journey through Indonesia's cultural and scenic spots, ending on a high in ravishing Raja Ampat.
Sea Trek Sailing Adventures offers a range of voyages around some of Indonesia’s most beautiful marine regions. While the boats can be privately chartered, Sea Trek provides a range of fixed-date, join-in journeys.
There are two boats. The larger of the two, Ombak Putih, can accommodate up to 24 guests in 12 air-conditioned cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom. Meanwhile, the Katharina, a slightly smaller phinisi, offers a similar experience for up to 12 guests in 6 cosy cabins, all featuring air conditioning and private facilities. Both ships have ample deck space, making them ideal for leisurely days at sea or stargazing in the evenings.
Since different parts of Indonesia have distinct seasons, the boats operate in different areas throughout the year. From April to September, the boats focus on the Lesser Sunda Islands and Komodo National Park, taking you to remarkable islands like Rinca, home to the iconic Komodo dragons, and Moyo Island, with a scenic waterfall hike and local village visits. Explore Sangeang, an active volcanic island offering surreal snorkelling over volcanic bubbles and unique black sand. The itinerary includes the fabled pink sand beaches of Padar Island and quiet coves near Banta, which are ideal for snorkelling and beachcombing. A highlight is a serene crater lake on Satonda Island, perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding.
The boats move over to Raja Ampat from October to February, and cruises operate out of Sorong. Here, you can explore spectacular destinations such as the Misool Archipelago, Batanta, and Gam Island, where you’ll find unique biodiversity and fascinating cultural sites. Snorkel vibrant reefs, discover ancient rock art and swim among stingless jellyfish in hidden lakes. Explore Batanta’s lush jungles and waterfalls, followed by an encounter with the iconic Red Bird of Paradise on Gam Island. The journey includes kayaking, beach BBQs, and underwater experiences across some of Indonesia’s most diverse coral systems.
Between the seasons, cruises take in the Spice Islands and Sulawesi as boats relocate from Komodo to Raja Ampat.
Some join-in itineraries are expert-led, allowing guests to travel with masters in specific fields such as botany, zoology, history and culture.
