Laos Encompassed
The ultimate tour of Laos, 3 weeks taking in the remarkable contrasts of each of it's extraordinary regions
The remarkable 4,000 Islands, known as Si Phan Don, lie in the waters of the Mekong, close to the border with neighbouring Cambodia. On a typical day exploring them, you’ll board a private boat, cruising from island to island taking in the beautiful countryside along the way.
You’ll reach the picturesque island of Done Khone around lunchtime then spend the afternoon exploring by bike or on foot, tracing the route of an abandoned French railway and enjoying the faded grandeur of its ageing colonial architecture. After a visit to the Liphi Waterfall, you’ll head for the far side of the island to take a boat ride in search of the rare Irrawaddy dolphins who reside in the deeper stretches of the river. This is one of the few places on earth where you can find these highly endangered animals, so fingers crossed you catch a glimpse of them!
