The Siam ,
Info : The Siam
The Siam provides a fantastic accommodation option for anyone looking for a unique and luxurious bolthole in Bangkok. The hotel consists of 39 villas and suites covering 3 acres in a fantastic riverside, garden location. The sights and attractions of Bangkok can be easily accessed from the Siam’s own private boat pier.
Externally the resort is in the signature style of its renowned architect Bill Bensley and internally the design is a combination of Thai Colonial and Art Deco. The suites themselves range from the 16 Siam Suites with king sized beds, deep bathtubs and spacious living rooms to the intimate Riverside Pool Villas with internal gardens and open air terraces. Every room at The Siam can be catered for by a personal butler. For the ultimate experience you can stay in one of four traditional Thai teakwood houses that were originally sourced by the famous silk tycoon Jim Thompson and socialite Connie Mangskau. Legend has it that Connie entertained the likes of Jackie Kennedy and Roger Moore in these houses!
For a hotel with only a small amount of rooms, The Siam offers an impressive range of eateries and facilities. The Thai Restaurant Chon doubles up as a fantastic cooking school so guests can learn a few tricks of the trade. The hotel has an impressive wellness spa called Opium and an excellent riverside swimming pool. A sumptuous afternoon tea can be taken in Café Cha on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and cocktails can be enjoyed at the riverside bar.
This is a unique and impressive resort completely unlike any other in Bangkok. As the location is a little further upstream than most other hotels we particularly recommend it for visitors who want to enjoy the city at a leisurely pace from a less “high rise” setting than the norm. We feel it is worth staying at the Siam for at least 4 nights to allow time to enjoy the resort setting as much as the city itself.
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
