Marvel at the grandeur of the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, with its imposing exterior and breathtakingly beautiful interior

The Eastern Coast of Oman, as you reach the most easterly point of the Arabian Peninsula, is home to some of its finest beaches and clearest waters.
Particular highlights along the coastline include the turtle-nesting sites, principally around Ras Al Jinz, and the spectacular palm-filled river wadis- a great spot for a unique swimming experience!

Just south of the most easterly point, you’ll find the Wahiba Sands, a vast expanse of sand dunes that is home to the Bedouin. Here you can get a taste of the Bedouin’s nomadic lifestyle by staying overnight in a desert camp. The Arabian sunsets and sunrises are pretty incredible in this part of the world, and you’ll dine under the stars with Bedouin food and entertainment, perhaps even taking a camel ride with a local guide. There is a range of permanent camp options, some close to the highway, others only reached by a 4WD adventure through the dunes. Camps include Desert Nights, or you could opt for a totally bespoke, private luxury camp for a once-in-a-lifetime desert experience.
You can visit the Wahiba Sands as part of a day trip or (perhaps more sensibly) an overnight trip from Muscat, with stops to explore the sinkholes and wadis en route. Alternatively, you could incorporate a stay in this area into a more in-depth loop of Oman taking in Muscat, Nizwa and The Jabal Akhdar first and then heading back to Muscat after your desert adventure.
